Dr. MacArthur is a board-certified, fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon and dermatologist who has served on the board of the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery. Specializing in Mohs micrographic surgery, she is known for her expertise in the precise removal of skin cancer with minimal damage to surrounding tissue and her elite skill at surgical closures and reconstruction to achieve the best results for her patients. With her advanced fellowship training, she is highly skilled at surgical and
cosmetic dermatology.

Born and raised in St. Louis, she attended John Burroughs School before receiving her undergraduate degree from Washington University in St. Louis where she was a two-time NCAA All-American in swimming. She earned her MD degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia. A recipient of an NIH oncology research fellowship, she investigated circulating tumor cells, developing and validating a novel protocol to detect them in cancer patients. She piloted 3 prospective clinical studies with her work, culminating in multiple national presentations and first-authored publications in top oncology journals.

Following 2 years of internal medicine residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, she received her dermatology residency training at Johns Hopkins University where she served as chief resident. She completed a prestigious fellowship in Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology at the University of Pennsylvania, receiving surgical training in Mohs surgery, cutaneous oncology, and procedural/cosmetic dermatology. Her training entailed resection and reconstruction of complex, high-risk and rare skin cancers. She joined the faculty at Washington University in St. Louis where she operated at the main Barnes Hospital, winning numerous honors, including the Teacher of the Year Award in 2021.

Dr. MacArthur has served as a representative on the Board of Directors for the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS) and as a session director for the ASDS annual meeting. She has published over 30 manuscripts and book chapters, and she has delivered multiple oral presentations at national dermatology meetings. Dr. MacArthur led a multi-disciplinary team of experts from 21 different institutions to develop guidelines on the management of skin cancers during COVID-19.

A St. Louis Magazine Top Doctor since 2021, Dr. MacArthur joined a private practice group in the St. Louis and Metro East area before founding her own practice, Town & Country Dermatology & Surgery Center.
